WHAT DOES THE BIBLE
SAY ABOUT ABORTION?
By Dr. Michael J. Bisconti
Question> Does the Bible say that abortion is a sin?
Answer> The Bible says that abortion is a sin when
one has no moral reason for it. In the
absence of moral reason, one must follow moral principle or moral
irresisaction (see the Pneumiatric
Mental Health Dictionary). The
moral principle that might apply is that one must favor the possibility of
life over the possibility of nonlife.
This is equivalent (not identical) to saying that one must favor life
over death. The moral irresisaction
that might apply can only be known by someone who is personally involved in the
situation.
Question> Does the Bible provide anything else that
would help us to determine whether abortion is a sin?
Answer> Yes.
Question> What?
Answer> See Abortion: The Smart Pro-Life Position
and Isn’t There Proof The
Unborn Child Is Alive? and The Abortion Pages. Also, see Dr. Bisconti’s 2008, revised and
expanded edition of his The Scientific American Abortion Encyclopedia (link not yet
