There are a few people that believe that Noah’s Ark was an impossibility.  Well, let us see:

  1. Noah’s Ark was a boat.  THAT’S NOT IMPOSSIBLE!

  1. Noah’s Ark housed people and animals.  THAT’S NOT IMPOSSIBLE!

  1. Noah’s Ark only had to house specimens of animals in his region.  THAT’S NOT IMPOSSIBLE!

We must comment on the well-established teaching that Noah’s Ark had to house specimens of all of the animals in the world.  This teaching is based on the false idea that “the earth” in Genesis 6 – 8 is “the earth as modern man conceives it,” that is, as a globe.  THIS IS INCORRECT!  The earth was “the earth as the people of Noah’s time conceived it.”  You find a description of this conception of the earth in Isaiah 40:22:

It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in….”

Note “the circle of the earth.”  This refers to the “circle of the horizon as a man sees it standing in the middle of a field.”  Note “the heavens as a curtain.”  A curtain has a beginning and an end.  This is the “sky as a man sees it standing in the middle of a field.”  This is not the “vastness of outer space which has no beginning or end.”  Finally, note “as a tent to dwell in.”  This refers to “the sky as a man sees it standing in the middle of a field.”  This is the sky “as a tent.”  The vastness of outer space is NOT like a tent.  It is like a BOX and, more accurately, a spherical container.

Thus, we see the silliness of the objection to the POSSIBILITY OF NOAH’S ARK!  Incidentally, every culture in the world has a legend, more or less agreeing with the biblical account, about “a few ancient people who escaped an inescapable flood in a special vessel.”
