1.      We are not necessarily talking about the best husband.

2.      A wife must be content with a good husband, even if he is not the best husband.

3.      A good husband:

a.      Obeys the law.

b.      Shows affection (hugs, kisses, etc.)  Note that affection is not sexual intimacy, though sexual intimacy involves affection.

c.       Engages in mutually desired sexual intimacy.

d.      Has the final word in all things.  He is free to take input from the wife.

e.       Does nothing to excess.  Something is necessarily excessive when:

1)      It causes illness in the innocent.  Note that words can cause emotion that causes illness.

2)      It physically injures the innocent.

3)      It kills the innocent.

f.       In “gray areas” (areas where God and the Bible and the husband’s conscience and judgment provide him no specific direction [not no direction since God always provides the husband, at least, general direction]), the husband has the final word.  In such areas, the husband is free to safely defer to (allow the will of) the wife BUT only the wife who is spiritual (obedient to God’s command to obey the husband).

g.      If there are one or more children in the home, follows the principles at How To Raise Your Children.
