If on a normal day when there are no special problems such as a serious family emergency or the death of a loved one and when you are not suffering from some serious illness…if on such a day, you cannot bear to hear the following words:  “I have some bad news to tell you,” you are NOT a strong person.  Note that we did not say IF YOU CANNOT BEAR TO HEAR BAD NEWS.  We said IF YOU CANNOT BEAR TO HEAR BAD NEWS BEFORE YOU HAVE HEARD IT.  There are many other tests of whether you are a strong person.

If, under normal circumstances, you cannot bear to hear the words “I have some bad news to tell you,” you are not a strong person.  However, if you are not a strong person, you can BECOME a strong person.  Personal strength begins with INTEGRITY.  Integrity is the quality of a person who always fulfills their responsibilities.  Personal strength does not mean that you MUST be perfect in every little detail of everything you do.  Personal strength DOES mean that you must TRY to be perfect in every little detail of everything you do.
