The following is reported by the Information Underground:
The following article is from the American Forum Press:
Friday, October 17, 2008, three biology teachers at (name withheld) Public School were arrested for teaching the so-called theory of evolution. Since the so-called theory has been proven and demonstrated to be far less than a theory, what scientists call “an hypothesis,” and, therefore, to be lacking the weight and authority to be taught as science, it has been illegal in this school to teach the hypothesis of evolution in biology classes.
The three teachers – Jerry Carpenter, Harold Smivsky, and Bill Hanover – were arrested and booked at the local precinct police station. They are each out on $50,000 bond and are scheduled to appear before a Cook County judge on November 10th. ACLU attorneys are scrambling to put together a defense but a judge has already ruled that their participation in court proceedings is prohibited. The ACLU is appealing this decision. In the meantime, the Chicago Center for Law and Justice has filed a countersuit that opposes the appeal of the ACLU. Legal experts say that the ACLU has no hope of winning their appeal but the CCLJ (Chicago Center for Law and Justice) is taking no chances.
A spokesman for the CCLJ said today: “We are wise to the tricks and questionable dealings of the ACLU and learned long ago not to count on them to play fair.” The spokesman added: “However, we care about fairness and, therefore, must note that the ACLU has done a measure of good to protect personal liberties. The only problem is that they have not applied their concern for personal liberties to all Americans, especially religious Americans.”
The L. F. Nexus will report further on this story as it unfolds. We add:
It is about time that socially irresponsible biology teachers were put in their place.
