ARE WOMEN SUPPOSED TO BE “BAREFOOT AND PREGNANT”?

First, to those of you who aren’t familiar with the expression “barefoot and pregnant,” this is a figure of speech referring to the idea that women are supposed to be homemakers and not leave the home to enter the public workforce.  The expression also suggests that women are inferior to men.

 

 

Question>  Dr. Bisconti, are women supposed to be homemakers?

 

Answer>  If they choose to be homemakers.

 

Question>  Dr. Bisconti, are women supposed to not enter the public workforce?

 

Answer>  If they choose to not enter the public workforce.

 

Question>  Are women supposed to not be doctors, lawyers, and other professionals?

 

Answer>  If they choose to not be doctors, lawyers, and other professionals.

 

Question>  Are women supposed to not lead men?

 

Answer>  Unless the men do not live holotristically righteous lives, women are supposed to not lead men.

 

Question>  Are women inferior to men?

 

Answer>  No.
