THE “M” WORD
A Synthesis Of Scriptural Ethics And Science

L. F. Nexus Founder’s Note
I would like to quickly comment on why the L. F. Nexus is addressing the present subject. Very simply, we have visited several websites that deal with the subject and they have all done less than a great job.
Regarding Referenced Websites
We do not necessarily agree with everything on the websites referenced in this article and we do NOT endorse any commercial interests represented on any of the referenced websites.
Preface
For the sake of our more sensitive readers we are not going to say what the “M” word is. The reader may already know what the subject of this web page is. If not, it will soon become apparent. In order to be able to speak intelligibly we will need to use some word to refer to our subject. Therefore, we have coined the euphemistic term “ego-attention.”
Is ego-attention a sin? It all depends.
EFFECTS OF EGO-ATTENTION
Whether or not ego-attention is a sin, ego-attention is normally associated with a degree of emotional instability. Emotional instability is involuntary alternation between ability and inability…to maintain one’s sense of happiness and well-being. One may experience interruption in their happiness, joy, and peace…instead experiencing unhappiness, sadness, and anxiety.
The “Drone Survey” was conducted by The Pneumiatry Institute under the auspices of Instant Survey, Inc. 100,000 people were surveyed. One response indicated by all participants was the fact that they experienced a degree of emotional instability on one or more occasions.
TYPES OF EGO-ATTENTION
There are two types of ego-attention: voluntary ego-attention and involuntary ego-attention.
There are two forms of voluntary ego-attention:
Fantasy voluntary ego-attention involves pornographic imagery and/or pornography. Fantasy voluntary ego-attention is a sin.
Definitions
An inhibition is a mental activity imposing restraint upon another activity. A disinhibition is the loss or reduction of an inhibition. Dementia is a condition of deteriorated mentality often with emotional apathy.
Sensitive Terminology
For the sake of our less mature readers we have coined the terms “biosis,” “biotic,” “bioticity,” and “heterobiotic” to use in place of the word “sex” and its derivatives.
Traumatic Brain Injury

Recreational Therapy
[Larry] was injured in an automobile accident in 1982 and experienced a severe traumatic brain injury...he [experienced] disinhibition…. Upon admission, he exhibited extreme [biotic]... behaviors (…[ego-attention]…)….Initially, all of his community outings were closely supervised and structured to continue to work on his disinhibition and inappropriate [biotic]... comments and actions.
The patient’s brain injury resulted in disinhibition and INVOLUNTARY ego-attention.

HEAD INJURY AND BIOTICITY…
CLINICAL EXPERIENCE
Early, middle and late stages of recovery from more than mild head injury are characterised by changing and overlapping patterns of disturbance of [biotic]... behaviour (Blackerby, 1987.) Initially, there is often…[ego-attention]. [Biotic]... delusions may be evident.
A head injury can result in INVOLUNTARY ego-attention.

…many individuals with TS also have disinhibited or compulsive [biotic]... behaviors such as…compulsive [ego-attention]…. Given the other types of disinhibited [biotic]... and aggressive behavior…[there is]…a generalized or overall disinhibition disorder. The prefrontal cortex, the limbic system, the striatum, the cerebellum, the motor and sensory cortexes, and the memory network throughout all play a role in a disinhibition disorder such as seen in TS.
Tourette's syndrome victims may exhibit both disinhibition and INVOLUNTARY ego-attention.

Alzheimer's Disease
Bioticity…and Dementia
The person with dementia may also exhibit inappropriate behaviour as a result of social disinhibition, and this can be disturbing and embarrassing for the carer and other people.
Alzheimer's Disease can cause disinhibition and INVOLUNTARY inappropriate behavior.

Biotic… disinhibition
Behaviour includes…[ego-attention] and propositioning others.
Dementia can result in disinhibition and INVOLUNTARY ego-attention.
Ego-attention can be involuntary. The psychological mechanism that precipitates involuntary ego-attention is disinhibition. Disinhibition occurs in healthy people as well. RANZCP, the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists, says (http://www.anzapt.org/training/exams/Exams9799.pdf):
Disinhibition may occur in normal [healthy] persons or in pathological conditions, that it is not pathognomonic [distinctively characteristic of a particular disease] but must be evaluated in context of MSE and clinical history. Evaluated on the basis of interview, corroborative history, with special consideration given to social context, mood state, cultural factors and age. Diagnostic possibilities needed to be considered broadly. Better answers included organic disorders and psychoses, the personality disorders (especially cluster B), and normals [healthy individuals] where disinhibition may be associated with anxiety, intoxication, attention-seeking (in children). Also relevant clinical examples like disinhibition occurring with use of benzodiazepines in the [unhealthy and healthy] elderly….Assessment of dangerousness eg: aggressive behaviour, …[biotic] disinhibition associated with perversions in early dementia, severe impulsivity in ADHD kids associated with high rates of accidental injuries….Some contemporary examples have been noted. These days, there is also the additional disinhibiting effects of abuse [by unhealthy and healthy people] of various substances and alcohol which is a common accompaniment. There are other psychological contagions that are less acutely destructive [but still destructive] (eg: fatigue, eating disorders).
Finally, is it possible for a healthy, mature Christian who is not fatigued to be controlled by disinhibition? The answer is NO!
THE FOLLOWING, CONCLUDING PARAGRAPHS HAVE BEEN DROPPED BECAUSE THEY HAVE BEEN DISCOVERED TO HAVE NO SCIENTIFIC BASIS!
Finally, is it possible for a healthy, mature Christian who is not fatigued to be controlled by disinhibition? Yes. How is that possible? A chemical deficiency in the brain that occurs in most people at one time or another can have the same result as fatigue. See http://www.lexapro.com/about_lexapro/how_works.asp and http://www.health-freedom-nutrition.com/articles/021106-proserafinal.html. This deficiency is called “serodrinosis”. The exact nature of this deficiency has not been determined but we know it involves a lack of both serotonin and one or more of the following: acetylcholine, dopamine, folate (folic acid), norephenedrine (also called noradrenaline), vitamin B-12, and vitamin E. Again, one result of serodrinosis is indifference to righteousness. Note that, if you don’t know how to prevent serodrinosis, God will not hold you accountable for any sin that results from it.
Studies now show that the incidence of serodrinosis is dramatically reduced in people whose diets are high (60% to 70% of total diet) in plant foods compared to others whose diets are low (20% to 30% of total diet) in plant foods.
